This Privacy Policy explains how Dekho Media ("we", "us", "our"), the operator of the Dekho learning mobile application (the "App"), collects, uses, shares, and protects your information. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
a) Information you provide
- Mobile phone number — used to create and log in to your account via OTP (One-Time Password) verification.
- Any feedback, complaints, reports, or messages you send to us.
b) Information collected automatically
- Usage data — lessons you watch, learning history, saved lessons / My List, likes, and in-app activity.
- Device & technical data — device model, OS version, app version, language, approximate region, IP address, and unique device/advertising identifiers.
- Subscription & purchase data — your purchase status, plan, and purchase token (payments are processed through a secure third-party payment gateway; we do not store your card or banking details).
- Push notification tokens — to send you updates about new lessons (via Firebase Cloud Messaging).
2. How We Use Your Information
- Create and manage your account and verify your identity via OTP;
- Provide, personalize, and improve the App and recommend relevant lessons;
- Process and manage your subscription and entitlements;
- Send notifications about new lessons and important account updates;
- Display advertisements (for non-subscribed users);
- Respond to your support requests, feedback, and complaints;
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security issues;
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. Third-Party Services
We rely on trusted third parties that have their own privacy policies:
- Google Firebase (authentication, push notifications, and app analytics)
- Payment gateway partner (secure processing of one-time purchases; they receive only the details needed to process your payment)
- Google AdMob (advertising for free users)
These providers may process limited data as described in their respective privacy policies. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We may share information only:
- With the service providers listed above, to operate the App;
- When required by law, court order, or a valid government request;
- To protect our rights, users, or the public from harm or illegal activity;
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice to you).
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data, except where retention is required by law.
6. Your Rights & Choices
- Access or correct your account information;
- Delete your account anytime from Settings → Delete Account (this permanently removes your account and associated personal data);
- Manage notifications through your device settings;
- Manage or cancel your subscription through your Google Play account.
If you are in India, you have rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), including the right to access, correct, and erase your data and to grievance redressal.
7. Children's Privacy
Dekho is a general-audience learning app. It is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are under 18, you should use the App only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will delete it.
8. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified within the App or by other means. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
